About Us
Since 1980, The Satellite Center has provided business satellite TV installations and support to businesses throughout the United States.
Founded by John Wegener, the acting President, the company has grown to $2,000,000
in annual sales and has a client base of well over 3000 accounts (view
list of cities where our clients use our services ).
The headquarters are centrally located in Florence, Kentucky, eight miles
south of Cincinnati, Ohio, close to the Cincinnati and Greater Kentucky
International Airport.
Our Company History
The Satellite Center, Inc. was established in 1980 as a sole proprietorship
in Florence, Kentucky. It was incorporated in 1983.
Throughout the late 1980s, as orbiting satellites filled the space above, large corporations saw the opportunity and savings to establish their own data and video networks. This "niche market" was called Business T.V. (BTV) and NCR of Dayton, Ohio, was no exception.
The Satellite Center, Inc. (TSC) was asked to design this network in conjunction
with Scientific Atlanta and soon after, The Satellite Center, Inc. managed
and installed over 180 sites throughout the US, Canada, and Western Europe.
By 1990, this network included many converted sites when NCR and AT&T were combined. In 1992, we became affiliated with both DIRECTV and DISH Network. In 1995, The Satellite Center, Inc. added the Trane Satellite Network of 240 sites.
So, too, universities needed to communicate with each other and students who could not attend in "traditional" classrooms. The Satellite Center, Inc. is pleased to be a "system integrator" and VSAT installer for many providers.
Today Satellite Center, Inc., with headquarters in Florence, Kentucky and
$2,000,000 in annual sales, has a client base of well over 3000.

Our People
JOHN P. WEGENER DIRECTOR OPERATIONS & SPECIAL MARKETS
Mr. Wegener oversees the entire organization. He is also responsible for the technical operations. His formal educational background is as follows:
- University of Cincinnati-1970-1974 Degree Electrical Engineering
- Northern Kentucky University 1976-1978 Broadcast T.V.
In 1974, Mr. Wegener was hired as an engineering technician at the University of Cincinnati. There he was responsible for an "in-house" cable system for the Medical College of U.C. In 1978, he transferred to the Electrical Engineering Department where he assumed the responsibility for instructing students on the proper operation of many types of electronic instrumentation.
In 1980, while at the University, he conceived the idea of a satellite firm serving the needs of customers for fair and reasonable priced sales and service and soon opened a retail store. The company was incorporated in 1984.
After requests for his services became too demanding to continue two jobs, he left the University of Cincinnati to pursue his career in satellite T.V.
Mr. Wegener holds many certificates relating to the satellite industry including a General Class FCC license, Amateur Radio License, and certificates of achievement from various manufacturers. He is also the local Authorized Interference Technician for Microwave Filter Company in New York.
DONNA M. RACKE VICE PRESIDENT/GENERAL MANAGER
Ms. Racke has been the secretary and bookkeeper for The Satellite Center, Inc., Inc. since 1980. She previously was a secretary with North American Properties in Cincinnati, Ohio, a position held for 12 years. During her last five years with North American, she was secretary to the president of the company. Ms. Racke and her assistants are in charge of the day to day operation of the office.
CRAIG GALLAGHER SERVICE MANAGER
Mr. Gallagher is responsible for supervision of commercial and residential service. This includes scheduling and "on site" service calls. He has over 15 years of experience in this field and has been with The Satellite Center, Inc. since 1989.
DAVE SNYDER CSR / ENGINEER
Mr. Snyder came to The Satellite Center, Inc. with a 20 year background in broadcast engineering. He supervises the operation of the NCR uplink in Dayton Ohio. He also maintains the satellite office in Dayton.
JERRY ERION CSR / BECK TV
Mr. Erion has over 25 years experience with all TV and CRT repairs. His knowledge of board level repairs makes him a valuable aid. He was a co-founder of The Satellite Center, Inc. and continues to assist the firm in his area of expertise.
SHAUN GOODRICH CSR / SERVICE TECHNICIAN
Shaun has been with The Satellite Center, Inc. since 1998. He assists the service department in all phases of installation and civil work.
MIKE WAGNER CSR / SERVICE TECHNICIAN
Mike has been with The Satellite Center, Inc. since 1997. He assists the service department in all phases of computer and data installation and service work.
